2015 Awards Received by the Bar Harbor Garden Club

During the June Garden Club Federation of Maine Convention, several awards were presented to our club in recognition for outstanding achievements.  The awards were accepted by Dianne McMullan.                        —Submitted By Micheleen Ward
Phyllis C. Lewis Traveling Trophy awarded to the Club that develops the best program for children to promote interest in any facet of nature, horticulture or conservation.
BHGC suceeded to: ♦ help purchase and spread mulch, plant  annuals, and assist in fall cleanup at the Harbor House Childcare Center; ♦ promote gardening projects at two MDI elementary schools and the high school; and ♦ place a college student who worked at the fish hatchery in Orland.
The Norine S. Veal New Members Plaque awarded for having the most members join from January 1 to December 31. Publicity Press Book Award, second place, large club category.
Youth Gardening Award, awarded for the best community related project.
BHGC helped with school gardens on MDI.  The club has supported the garden projects at the Harbor House Children's Center for several years.
Civic Development Certificate of Merit given for outstanding project furthering the interest of conservation.
Youth Environmental Award given for worthy projects by Junior, intermediate or high school garden clubs.
BHGC continues to support the Student Conservation Association. We typically sponsor one or two students each summer who are assigned to Acadia National Park.
The Gloria Bryson Burrill Tree Planting Award awarded to a garden club for the most outstanding tree planting project Club of Distinction Award given for club accomplishments in all areas of garden club activities receiving the highest number of points.
