Awards Received by the Bar Harbor Garden Club for 2016 Projects


The June 2017 Garden Club Federation of Maine Convention was held in Freeport and hosted by the Stroudwater District. Dianne McMullan accepted the following awards for our club in recognition for outstanding achievements.

Club of Distinction Awards given for club accomplishments in all areas of garden club activities receiving the highest number of points. GCFM Certificate with Gold Seal for highest number of points: 380!!!

Publicity Press Book Award for exhibiting quality, quantity and diversity of coverage in the print media promoting garden clubs and NGC goals and objectives. GCFM, First-Place /Large Club category. New England Region and National Garden Clubs,Inc., Honorable Mention.

Kathleen Marty Award for Civic Development for establishing or maintaining public plantings. GCFM Honorable Mention for the club’s Dogwood trees at the Blue Star Memorial Marker in Bar Harbor.

Conservation and Environmental Award for outstanding project furthering environmental interests. GCFM Award for club’s sponsorship of Student Conservation Association’s raptor intern in Acadia National Park.

Certificate of Recognition for Blue Star Memorial Marker The Bar Harbor Garden Club maintains the Marker, holds two ceremonies each year to honor our servicemen and women (Memorial Day and Veterans’ Day), and maintains the dogwood trees. GCFM, NER and NGC Certificate of Recognition.
